A Fragile Beginning

Ruthie Bee’s story is one of survival against the odds. Born on a local farm, she was immediately faced with challenges, unable to stand or suckle from her mother. We attempted to rescue Ruthie, along with her mother and twin, but unfortunately, we were only able to secure Ruthie. This marked the start of her extraordinary journey at Sale Ranch.

Immediate Care and Challenges

Upon her arrival on January 6, Ruthie Bee was in a critical state. She was battling severe dehydration, hypoglycemia, and an inability to regulate her body temperature. Her legs were worryingly weak, and her belly showed signs of distress, including blood in her stool. In this crucial phase, Ruthie has been under the expert care of two of our amazing veterinarians, who have been meticulously diagnosing and treating her conditions, ensuring the best possible care for her fragile state.

24/7 Observation at Jen’s Home

Understanding the gravity of her condition, Ruthie Bee was immediately taken to Jen’s home for round-the-clock care and observation. In Jen’s home, a dedicated and safe area has been set up specifically for Ruthie, ensuring that she is not only under constant care but also in a quarantine environment that is secure and comfortable. This level of personal attention and care epitomizes the dedication at Sale Ranch to the wellbeing of every animal we shelter.

Signs of Improvement

Despite the challenges, Ruthie Bee began to show signs of improvement. Her appetite increased, and the distressing signs began to recede. However, her journey was marred by setbacks, including leg pain and fever, indicating an ongoing battle with infection. Through it all, Ruthie Bee’s indomitable spirit shone through, displaying her strong will to live.

Guarded Outlook but Hopeful Future

The road ahead for Ruthie Bee remains guarded, yet we are filled with hope. Her progress, while gradual, is a testament to the power of dedicated care and love. While she faces ongoing struggles with her left front leg, her overall health is steadily improving. We remain hopeful that with continued care and support, Ruthie Bee will grow into a healthy and strong sheep.
