Building for the Future: Our Upper Pastures Fencing Project

Posted on March 13, 2024

A New Beginning

Every new project brings us closer to our vision of a safe and sustainable haven for our resident animals. With a heart full of gratitude and hands ready to work, we embarked on our latest mission: the Upper Pastures Fencing Project. This endeavor wasn’t just about erecting barriers but laying down the foundations of security, care, and love for our beloved residents.

Through Granite and Time

Our journey began with a challenging task: cutting through solid granite to set the new fence posts. This laborious process wasn’t new to us. Several years ago, when we first expanded these pastures, we relied on T-posts and 2×4 wire fencing. However, the test of time and the curious nature of our goats strained the strength of these barriers, leading us to this moment of renewal and reinforcement.

A Labor of Love

Upgrading to 4×4 posts set in concrete, complete with top and middle bracing bars, is no small feat. Yet, it was a challenge embraced with open hearts by Dave Sale and Justin, especially on a rain-filled day perfect for starting this much-needed project. Watching them work through feet of granite was a poignant reminder of early days at Sale Ranch, where every fence and paddock was built by hand, a testament to our commitment and dedication to this sanctuary.

Reflections of Growth

The sight of Dave and Justin united in their effort took Jen back to the early days when Sale Ranch was just a vision waiting to be realized. There were boundless dreams and a determination that saw her and Dave through uncertainty, months of dry camping on raw land, and relentless labor. Chiseling through rock after rock, Jen and Dave laid the groundwork for what Sale Ranch has become today—a beacon of kindness and compassion.

Gratitude and Progress

We’ve come a long way since those early days, and it’s thanks to our incredible supporter’s unwavering generosity, especially during our year-end fundraiser, we continue to grow and improve. The donations collected have fully funded this project’s posts and wire fencing, allowing us to focus on providing the best care for our animals and ensuring their safety and happiness.

#KindnessLivesHere at Sale Ranch

As we move forward with the Upper Pastures Fencing Project, we’re reminded of the strength found in unity and the power of compassion. Together, we’re building more than just fences; we’re creating a sanctuary where kindness lives in every corner. Thank you for being a part of our journey and helping us make Sale Ranch a haven for all who call it home.
