Stepping into a Brighter Future: Mick’s Journey to Mobility with a Custom Prosthetic

Posted on February 20, 2024

In a heartening initiative at our sanctuary, Mick Jagger the goat is on the path to an enhanced quality of life by introducing a custom-made prosthetic leg designed to support his mobility despite an autoimmune disease affecting his front legs. This step reflects our unwavering commitment to the welfare of our animals, ensuring their comfort and freedom of movement.

A Turn for the Better: Mick’s Medical Milestone

The positive change in Mick’s condition came after a recent adjustment to his medication, which significantly improved his comfort and overall well-being. However, understanding the progressive nature of his condition, we recognized the necessity for additional support.

Crafting Mobility: The Art and Science Behind Mick’s Prosthetic

The process for Mick’s improved mobility began with our Medical Director, Dr. Martin, taking a precise cast of Mick’s leg. This cast is now en route to a specialist in Washington state, Angela from Specialized Pet Solutions, who is known for her skill in crafting prosthetics that offer comfort and functionality. Angela’s expertise promises Mick will receive the best care and support through his new prosthetic.

Beyond Support: Our Ethos of Animal Care

Our decision to provide Mick with a prosthetic leg is rooted in our belief in ensuring all our residents’ highest quality of life, underlining our ethos of kindness and comprehensive care. It’s more than just physical support; it’s about affirming our dedication to the well-being of every animal in our care.

Joining Mick’s Journey: A Call to Our Community

As we eagerly anticipate the arrival of Mick’s custom prosthetic, we extend a heartfelt invitation to our community to be an integral part of his journey toward enhanced mobility. By sharing Mick’s inspiring story on social media with the hashtags #SRASMick, #SaleRanchAnimalSanctuary, and #KindnessLivesHere, you can help amplify our mission of ensuring a life filled with comfort and care for all our sanctuary residents.

Moreover, if you’re moved by Mick’s resilience and our dedication to animal welfare, consider making a donation to support not only Mick’s prosthetic but also the ongoing needs of all the animals under our care. Your generosity will directly contribute to their well-being and our ability to continue providing such essential services. Join us in making a tangible difference in their lives.
