Hello, let me introduce you to Jen Sale! She’s the founder, heart, and true north of Sale Ranch Animal Sanctuary. Jen’s love for animals started when she was young, thanks to her first horse, Patches. Patches taught her important values such as commitment, loyalty, and compassion, which still shape her approach toward all animals to this day.

Jen’s dream of opening an off-grid horse rescue became a reality in 2011 when she and her husband, Dave, purchased a property just outside of Temecula wine country. They started rescuing horses, but everything changed when Jen rescued Kid Rock the goat and his sister, Clover. After learning about the horrors of the dairy and food systems, Sale Ranch Animal Sanctuary was born.

Jennifer’s background in medicine and her love for animals have been of great benefit to the sanctuary. Her experience with horses and knowledge in nursing has enabled her to provide preventive care to a range of animals, often reducing or eliminating large veterinary bills.

Jen is 100% hands-on and works alongside volunteers 365 days a year to ensure each resident receives the best care possible. Her dedication to the animals of Sale Ranch is enormous, and she dreams big about expanding the sanctuary’s reach to rescue more animals from suffering.

In her rare free time, Jen enjoys live music, hanging out with friends and family, and relaxing by a fire with a glass of good wine. She’s an inspiration to everyone who wants to make a positive difference in the world.
