Could it be the drop in pressure? The change in light? The smell of rain before it falls?
We don’t know for sure. But after years of caring for animals at Sale Ranch, one thing feels certain, our residents sense weather long before we do.
- Horses may grow restless before a cold front, swishing tails or pacing the fence line.
- Chickens start gathering near shelter, even on a calm morning.
- Cows face into the wind, waiting patiently.
- Goats stand alert and still, as if listening.
Is it instinct? Experience? Or something deeper that science hasn’t quite explained?
