Gene Baur, Co-Founder Farm Sanctuary, with Founder of Sale Ranch, Jen Sale

Discovering Hope Through Compassion and Sustainability

Posted on October 27, 2023
A Special Visit

Earlier this week, an extraordinary event took place at Sale Ranch. We had the privilege of hosting Gene Baur, the visionary founder of the farm sanctuary movement and the Co-founder and President of Farm Sanctuary, which has sanctuaries in California and New York. This wasn’t just an ordinary visit; it marked a profound gathering of hearts and minds, a celebration of two vital principles: compassion and sustainability.

Going Beyond the Basics

Our discussions with Gene went far beyond usual topics like buildings, healthcare, and gardens. We talked about something more profound—the power of compassion and sustainable farming in a world where our food system needs change.

A Chapter in Our Journey

Gene’s visit wasn’t a one-time event. It was like turning the page in a big book of change and hope. He knows a lot about rescuing animals, and that connects with our deep commitment to our animal friends. We share a special love for these creatures that goes beyond words.

More Than Animals

But our connection goes even further. It’s about the land we care for, the gardens we grow, and the fresh food we produce. It’s also about helping people in our community by giving them the nutrition they need. Gene’s visit was more than just him being here physically; it was a meeting of values and dreams for a kinder world.

Building Relationships for Change

In our work, we’ve always believed that building good relationships is like the foundation of a big house. It’s what creates a community where change can happen. Gene’s visit reminded us how important this is. It showed us that when people with the same goals and kindness in their hearts come together, they can do amazing things.

Changing the Food Story

Together, we’re showing compassion, doing things in a way that’s good for the earth, and working can make a new story for our food system. It’s proof that every talk, every connection, and every shared dream takes us closer to a better future.

A Grateful Heart

We can’t express how thankful we are for Gene’s visit and its inspiration. We’re excited to keep these important conversations alive and keep working toward making the world kinder. 🌏💚
