Mama Joy and The Cowboys’ Great Pasture Adventure!

Posted on September 5, 2023

Two years ago, our family at Sale Ranch grew a little larger and decidedly more delightful with the addition of Mama Joy and our three endearing Cowboys – Whiskey, Waffles, and Walnut – rescued from an organic dairy farm. Realizing their need for more space, we set our gears in motion to create a larger, happier home for them.

This expansion was never just about size; it was about heart and thoughtfulness. We extended their territory but took utmost care to preserve our pepper trees, giving our bovine buddies the chance to enjoy shade (without those trees becoming an afternoon snack!).

But here’s a part of our story that really tugs at our heartstrings: Waffles. This spirited boy is blind, and his well-being has always been at the forefront of our planning. For him, life’s riches come in sounds, textures, and familiar smells. We had to be meticulous in designing his space to ensure safety, comfort, and enrichment. A significant part of this design was the placement of a wind chime at the gated entrance. This isn’t just for ambience; it serves a dual purpose for Waffles. The chimes not only signal the gateway to new adventures but also act as an auditory beacon, guiding him back to the familiar grounds of his original pasture, where essentials like food and water await him. It’s about letting him experience the world while ensuring he always finds his way home.

The delight radiating from Mama Joy and The Cowboys, as they stretch, play, and bask in their enhanced surroundings, is our daily dose of happiness. But here’s a heartfelt shoutout to our donors. Without your generous support, turning visions into reality at Sale Ranch would be a dream. Each contribution adds a note of love, ensuring a delightful life for all our cherished animal residents.

A heartfelt thank you from every corner of Sale Ranch. And in case you’re wondering, Mama Joy, Whiskey, Waffles, and Walnut are sending you waves of gratitude and moo-filled love!
